William J. Fischer, CAI, GPPA

Industrial Division Vice President

Bill Fischer, Vice President of Motley’s Industrial Division, directs all industrial and commercial asset sales and appraisals. Bill specializes in providing asset sales and appraisal services for financial institutions, corporate clients, attorneys, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and the U.S. Marshal’s Service.

He has served as an expert witness in various courts and is approved to perform appraisals for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court as well as local, state and Federal courts. Bill also manages an extensive on-call staff of specialty appraisers that are available to value specific assets.
Bill has earned the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) and the Graduate Personal Property Appraisers (GPPA) designations. He also studied marketing at Virginia Commonwealth University and at Virginia Tech. Prior to joining Motley’s in 1993, Bill owned and operated a contracting firm.

Bob Mann

Industrial Division Fleet & Inventory Manager

Bob Mann serves as the Industrial Division Fleet & Inventory Manager. Bob manages the day to day inventory, asset notification and pickup, auction preparation and sale completion.

Bob began his career with Motley’s at the Richmond Auto Auction in 1996, after 11 years at Southern Auto Auction. Prior to joining the auto auction, Bob has 26 years in the automotive industry.

Charles Strickler

Auctioneer / Ringman

Charles Strickler works as a ringman on auction day and has appraised livestock and equipment for Motley for the past 6 years. Charles received an Animal Science B.S. from Virginia Tech in 1973. In 1982, Charles received his auction training from Superior Auction School in Decator, Ill.

Horace Fischer

Industrial Field Assistant

Horace Fischer Joined Motley’s Industrial Division Equipment Staff in 2001 after 38 years as Sales Manager for a National Store Fixture Company.

He shares in the Responsibility for Auction Setup, Delivery Acceptance, Auction Checkout and Various other Duties as Required.

Kristi Stephens

Industrial Assistant

Kristi Stephens, manages all marketing and advertising for Motley's.

Kristi joined Motley’s in 2000 and was promoted to Industrial Division Assistant in 2004, then to Advertising Coordinator in 2008.

Lew Richards

Industrial Field Assistant

Lew Richards joined Motley's Industrial Division's equipment staff in 2002 after retiring with 38 years service with Reynolds Metals Company and 20 years of owning and operating a beef cattle farm.

He shares in the responsibility for auction setup, equipment moving, delivery acceptance, and various other duties as needed.

Vernon "Bookie" Hatton

Industrial Field Assistant

Vernon "Bookie" Hatton joined Motley's in February 2006 after retiring from Honeywell in Hopewell, Virginia, after 28 years of service in the maintenance department.

He shares in the responsibility of auction setup and various other duties as needed.
