Gordonsville, Virginia — SVN Motleys—a founding member of SVN Auction Services, a national provider of date-specific sales and special asset solutions—is coordinating the foreclosure sale of 288 acres of farmland and several structures just south of the Town of Gordonsville, Va. An onsite sale of the property, located at 6729 James Madison Highway, is scheduled for March 9 at 11 a.m.
The property, located 30 minutes from Charlottesville, will be sold to the highest bidder. Interested parties may tour the property on March 2 at 11 a.m. For more information, visit the auction website.
“This property, known as ‘Sylvania,’ is historically significant in the area as the residence has remained essentially unchanged for more than 150 years,” said Tim Dudley, CAI, AARE, SVN Motleys. “The main residence sits aloft a scenic rise and provides a 360 degree view of the area. With its many mature and stately trees circling the home, and small stream and pond, it truly is a picturesque property.”
Sylvania is located within the 14,000 acres of the Green Springs National Historic Landmark District and includes a conservation easement in order to preserve the historic significance of the property and several of its structures. These include the main manor house, the Creek Willy House, the out kitchen and the garage.
The Sylvania property includes more than a quarter mile of frontage on State Route 15 James Madison Scenic Highway. The main residence is 4,300 square-feet of living space at the top of a slope that offers scenic vistas. A second structure, the completely restored Creek Willy House, is 1,275 square-feet with three bedrooms and two baths. The property is fenced for cattle or other livestock. Farm buildings on the property are designed to store machinery, horses and cattle.
“This could really be someone’s dream estate–the scenery is spectacular,” Dudley said. “The structures convey a depth of history. It’s a property where someone can enjoy tranquility and an entirely new pace of life.”
